New railway line: Dresden to Prague
This rail connection between Dresden and Prague will be improved with support from Thinkproject, meeting requirements for increased cargo traffic volume and shorter travel times for passengers.
Project
In a joint goal between the Free State of Saxony and the Czech Republic, the rail connection between Dresden and Prague will be improved to meet the requirements of increased cargo traffic and shorten travel time for passengers.
Currently it takes more than two hours to travel the route, by rerouting outside the Elbe Valley travel time will be reduced to less than one hour. Additionally, the capacity for cargo transport will be significantly increased, noise pollution along the existing route will be reduced and a flood-proof route will be achieved. Benefits can also be seen at the German seaports, where bottleneck issues will be improved.
In Saxony, the cross-border rail link through the Elbe Valley is an important component of TEN-V 22, and in addition to the link between Dresden and Prague, is heavily relied on for international traffic to and from the North Sea and Baltic Sea ports.

Solution
Thinkproject CDE INFRASTRUCTURE’s drawing module is used for the approval and checking processes of documents for submission of tenders, as well as for the checking and approval of the pre-planning.
This functionality is complemented using the CDE INFRASTRUCTURE’s correspondence module as an exchange platform for correspondence between DB Netz AG and SZDC – Správa železnic, state organization (Czech Railways).
Result
The successful international cooperation with the SZDC deserves special mention. For example, the contract documents for the project are being reviewed simultaneously by both DB Netz AG and SZDC with the involvement of a translation agency.
