Implementation of a Common Data Environment on a large-scale project
Project
Located in the Białołęka district, Galeria Północna is the first new shopping centre to open in Warsaw for 10 years. As well as offering over 200 stores and boutiques the centre also includes a multi-screen cinema, fitness centre and children’s playground. A rooftop garden tops off this expansive build, providing many activities from shopping to leisure.
Completed in 2017, the building was designed by APA Wojciechowski studio, who worked with contract engineers HILL International and general contractor Unibep S.A.
Since completion Galeria Północna has received the prestigious LEED pre-certification at GOLD level.
Challenge
Due to the size and complexity of the investment, GTC S.A. decided to use Thinkproject for their Common Data Environment (CDE) needs. Implementing a platform on a project with several project teams can prove to be a challenge in of itself, however GTC recognised that they needed a CDE solution in order to implement a standardisation of their drawing numbering, as well as implementation of numerous processes that needed to be uniformed.
Solution
With Document & Communication Management (DOCUMENTS), better control of processes was possible. All approval statuses were constantly updated in real-time, and access to documents was made fast and simple.
All modules utilised for the project proved to work well in practice and as such were used very intensively throughout the project cycle.
Result
Experience gained from the usage of Thinkproject provided grounds for drawing the following conclusion – in order to make CDE solutions effective, it is necessary to consider the specific needs of parties, as well as their contractual conditions.
As a result, the application of Thinkproject for such a complex and demanding project proved necessary.
