Elbphilharmonie, Germany
Document and Drawing Management for Elbphilharmonie
Project
The Elbphilharmonie (EN: Elbe Philharmonic Hall) is a concert hall situated in Hamburg, along the Elbe river, which boasts one of the most acoustically advanced concert halls in the world.
Opened to the public in 2017, the 10-year construction period underwent several significant changes which included a strengthened roof. The structure compromises both a glass exterior on top and a repurposed warehouse building at the bottom. The Elphi is currently the tallest inhabited building in Hamburg.
The Elphi houses two concert halls, a hotel and residential apartments. The generous Plaza – the junction between the old warehouse and the new construction – serves as public viewing platform for visitors.
Challenges
This project overcame many challenges and at peak times there were more than 600 planning partners involved. One-million documents and drawings were handled via CONCLUDE CDE’s Documents module, including the processing and approval of data and drawings which were organised in more than 150 workflows with up to 50 individual steps.
Solutions
With CONCLUDE CDE project participants were able to remain assured that a project of this scale and length remained easily searchable and secure. With a central repository of all project documents and drawings, administration duties were reduced to focus on the wider project.
The version management and indexing of documents, drawings and plans ensured clarity and a concise chain of events from beginning to end to reduce duplication and confusion between different teams.
